Fingerz Crossed

Mr. Z, that lovable, hard-knocking, tail-eating weirdo with a penchant for bolting, might be making a great move:

“I always like when a 3YO breaks out of the glamour division for a chance to do what they might be brilliant at …” noted Jessica Chapel of Railbird in an email on the subject. Indeed.

After a little research, I stand by my lower brainstem reaction:

Caleb’s Posse had his breakout cutback performance in the Amsterdam before defeating Uncle Mo in the King’s Bishop. While not as accomplished as Mr. Z in the Glamour Division, he certainly made up for it, going on to cap his 3-year-old campaign with a win the Breeders’ Cup Mile. He followed that up with three game but brutal beats in the Tom Fool, Carter and Met Mile.

Here’s hoping the King’s Bishop launches a similar trajectory for my favorite hard-trying nut job, Mr. Z. In the meantime, please enjoy these Caleb’s Posse replays…
